About Reflexology

Reflexology is an ancient form of relaxation therapy that anyone can do to anyone else.

Simply put when talking about reflexology it is a light touch massage that is relaxing, increases blood circulation and helps to promote balance between the all of the bodies organs and systems.

Reflexology also increases the energy flow around the body.

For many years the Chinese have known about reflexology and the therapeutic benefits of healthy Chi/ energy flow through the body.

Primarily reflexology and also acupuncture were used as tools to clear blockages in a persons energy/ chi highways.

Blockages can develop anywhere in the body for many different reasons... the season, a persons diet, a persons emotions, a persons physical environment etc.

Blockages in energy pathways lead to physical illness.

Clearing blockages in a persons energy path is very important to maintain good health and prevent illness.

That is why people get reflexology done... to stay well!!!

It is also best used to create balance and to help someone get back to their optimum state of health.

What specifically does reflexology do?

  • Relaxes the body
  • Increases blood circulation around the body
  • Creates balance between the body's organs and systems

Reflexology is kind of beneficial like meditation as well. It relaxes you to a point of not thinking about anything. So it doesn't matter how much you know about reflexology, because helping someone get that relaxed is an amazing gift that will definitely benefit the person receiving it.

Is reflexology dangerous?

Reflexology in the majority of cases is perfectly safe, and used frequently as part of a complete recovery program such as healing from cancer.

Some people however should under no circumstance receive reflexology due to the danger from an increase in blood circulation. Others because is can interfere with an unstable pregnancy or diabetic.

There is a whole page dedicated to listing exactly who should and should not receive reflexology at "Caution!! Who should avoid Reflexology" (click here to find out more)

What are the body's systems?

  • Skeletal
  • There are 26 bones just in one foot!

  • Muscular
  • Nervous
  • To warm up the nervous system eat warm soups and stroganoffs!

  • Respiratory
  • Lymphatic
  • This is like your waste system, the lymph gets rid of all the waste from the skin and blood! You can help the Lymphatic system by doing reflexology over the entire back of both feet

  • Cardio Vascular
  • Endocrine
  • This is your gland system. There are only a few glands in the body and amazingly enough they control pretty much everything else that happens in the body. They excrete instructions continually. This is why people with gland problems can have serious health issues.

  • Digestive
  • Each persons body is different, so it is very important that you are eating what is good for you. Get to know what makes you feel good after you eat and what makes you feel tired, bad or sick. You are the best decision maker for what is right for your body.

  • Excretory
  • Complications with any of the organs in the excretory system are common in old age, very painful and easily avoided through a life of balance and strength in deciding to eat the best of what is available.

Why do they need to be balanced?

Your body is like the universe. Everything in it, from the tiniest cell, belongs to something one bit bigger.

Here is an example beginning from the start...

  • first we have a bodies cells
  • a bunch of cells together form tissue
  • a bunch of tissues get together and work to perform a specific function, in doing so they form an organ
  • a group of organs that work together, coordinating their activities to form a system
  • a bunch of systems work together and make a functioning human body!

If one system is off in your body it will put off balance the next related system and so on until you develop an illness.

Being aware of the bodies systems makes it easy to keep them all in good condition... Plus, if you know a system that is giving you trouble and you know its closest related system, then you can create extra relief by working both of them and not just one

And besides, everyone is destined to have one system that is simply just a bit weaker than the others. So if you know which one that is for you... just take care of it.

Plus there are heaps of great cookbooks out there that aim in nourishing specific organs or systems, so you can always replenish it specifically.

Are there different types of reflexology?

Yes

Although, mostly they all work on the same principles and agree to the organs being in similar places.

The type you will find here is the most popular, a combination of Western Styles and Chinese Meridian and Reflexology principles

What do you need to do reflexology?

In general reflexology can be done anywhere anytime simply by knowing the right techniques.

However, when doing reflexology on the feet using a powder- like talcum powder, will make the treatment more effective and much easier to do. The powder soaks up oil from the feet and hands, making the treatment easier to perform as their is no slipping.
